The Best Coffee World Records for the Caffeine Obsessed

These people took their passion for coffee to infinity and beyond!

Is there a limit to how much love we can feel for coffee? We like to think not! Why should there be? It makes us more productive, tastes exquisite, and never fails to improve our day and our mood. So it’s no wonder we’re always looking for ways to pay tribute to our favorite drink. What you might be wondering is how far you would dare to go for your obsession with caffeine.

These people took that question very seriously and decided to prove the world that no one can beat them in the race for conquering the title of the greatest coffee lovers. No one can set boundaries for them, and that’s why they all hold coffee-related world records. Find out in today’s article what they did!

The largest cup of coffee
Let’s start with a classic. This record was first set in 2007, with 911.5 gallons. In 2010, the company GourmetGiftBaskets.com set a new record and brewed in Las Vegas the largest cup of coffee in the world, pouring 2,010 gallons of our beloved beverage into an 8x8 foot specially made coffee mug. Think you could handle it on a Monday morning?

The largest painting made of coffee beans
In 2012, a group of Russian artists joined their talents to create a giant picture made of 396,8 pounds of coffee beans, which granted them a place in The Guinness Book of Records. The masterpiece depicted the face of a woman whose hair resembled the smoke coming out of a cup of coffee. It was called "Awakening." The previous record was set in Albania where the picture measured 25 square meters (269 square feet).

The fastest espresso machine
We know Italians love their espresso fast and strong, but this world record was actually set in Switzerland. The Swiss Espresso Extractor was designed and built by A. Schurr, J. Lüönd, A. Lütold, and SK tec SA. While standard machines require 7g of ground beans and 25 seconds to make an espresso, this record-breaker uses 2 kg of coffee each time. In 2008 produced 3 gallons of espresso coffee in one minute! Can we get one of those for when we’re in a hurry to get to work? Is it too much to ask?

The biggest coffee party
Cologne, in Germany, was the city that witnessed the largest group of people drinking coffee simultaneously in a single venue. 8,162 men and women gathered at Jugendpark on 30 August 2009 in a party set by Krüger GmbH & Co. KG. But guess what? On December 16, 2017, the city of Puerto Vallarta, in Mexico, will try to break the record again as a promotion strategy. If you want to be part of the experience, be sure to make plans to spend the holidays enjoying your love of coffee!

The largest coffee shop
If you love visiting new cafés even more than drinking coffee, then this world record is for you. Al Masaa Café, located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, holds the title of the largest coffee shop in the world. This massive store was inaugurated on August 13, 2014, and offers a total of 1,050 seats. Now the question is how do they manage to serve so many people? Are they ever full? Guess you’ll have to go and see it for yourself!

As we’ve just seen, breaking a world record is a great way to promote your business or city. At That Coffee Roasters, we think it’s even greater if those records just happen to be related to coffee, but that might just be our love for caffeine speaking. Would you dare to break any of them? Let us know in the comments and subscribe to read more of our content every day!
